The Best Time For Natural Sun Tanning
A lot of people lay down in order to get sun tans. This is because a lot of people sun bathe when the sun is directly above them in the sky.
But if you want to enjoy the sun, get some work done, and not roast your shoulders … the best times of day are approximately between 8am and 11am and then 2-5pm. During these times the sun is at more of an angle to your body even when you are standing upright. More of your body will get exposed to the sun and the shoulders (and top of the nose) will bear less of the intensity.
When I plan for a full workday outside, I usually take off from about noon through 2 for lunch and a siesta.
I imagine that ancient man did the same thing, especially in the heat of the summer.
