A Letter To My Grandfather
Today I sent this letter via old fashioned mail to my grandfather. It feels good to honor people worth honoring.
Dear Pop,
Today I was talking to one of my friends about you. And I realized that I was saying how much I admire you and how proud I am of you as a man. And I wanted to write a letter to tell you.
I was thinking about how you always worked hard, and worked long hours and worked multiple jobs to pay the bills and give my mom and Uncle Jon a good life. And how unlike so many people today, you took responsibility for yourself and your family, and never wanted to owe anyone anything. I respect that. And I try very hard to live that way myself.
That’s part of the reason I don’t get to tell you as often as I should that I think you are a great man. I work very hard to make sure that my kids are well taken care of and have the best life they can have. And I wouldn’t have learned the value of hard work if I hadn’t seen it in people like you.
I’m excited to see you soon. The kids talk about their great grandfather all the time.
Love,
James
